Legal Compliance

Since the entry into force of the Ordinance on the Return, the Taking Back and the Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Appliances (ORDEA), dated July 1st, 1998, discarded electrical and electronic appliances have to be disposed of according this ordinance.

Due to their composition and properties the environmentally compatible disposal of harmful waste and further waste underlying control (among them electrical and electronic appliances) require particular technical and organizational measures. The procedures to control these measures are regulated in the Ordinance on Movements of Waste (VeVA) and the FOEN Ordinance on Lists for the Movements of Waste. The VeVA also implements the ordinances of the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal and the provisions of the OECD Decision on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Waste.
